Lighter winds are expected this weekend (strongest gusts to 15 mph), however warmer temperatures and RH values around 40% still raise concern over forested areas in parts of northwest MN for near critical fire weather conditions (Lake of the Woods, Beltrami, Hubbard). Much windier conditions are expected Monday and Tuesday, as a cold front moves through the region. RH values could vary wildly based on cloud cover and heating ahead of the front and how warm it gets behind the front, however values 30 to 45% may occur with breezy to windy conditions and there is potential for critical fire weather conditions to develop during the afternoon/early evening periods. The next chance for rain or thunderstorms would be ahead of and with the front late Sunday evening through Monday, and a few strong to severe thunderstorms could develop. There would be concerns for lightning starts with thunderstorm activity in forested areas where fuels have been a concern.
