FPBA31 MYNN 181442 181442 MYNNYM BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON, TONIGHT AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 12:00 P.M. EDT, SATURDAY, JULY 18, 2026. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 P.M. EDT. WARNING IN EFFECT: A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the Northern, Northwest and Central Bahamas. Residents and visitors are advised to remain hydrated, wear protective clothing, seek shaded areas and avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak sunshine hours (11am to 4pm). GENERAL SITUATION: Streaming moisture from a developing low pressure system off the west coast of Florida combined with low to mid-level troughing moving northwestwards across the island chain, will support isolated fast moving showers and possible thunderstorms. Meanwhile, high pressure over the area will support moderate to fresh breezes along with hot temperatures. Outlook: High pressure will continue to dominate the weather pattern across the Bahamas, maintaining stable and generally quiet conditions through the start of next week. By midweek, increasing cloudiness and a higher chance of showers and thunderstorms are expected as a deep-layered trough approaches the islands. Unsettled conditions are then likely to persist through Friday as a frontal boundary stalls over the southeastern United States, keeping moisture and instability across the region. SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Rip Currents: There is a slight to moderate risk of rip currents for the Southeast Bahamas including the southern territorial waters. Swimmers are advised to exercise caution when entering these waters. UV Index: Members of the public are advised to wear protective clothing and sunscreen, and seek shaded areas while outside during peak sunshine hours (11am – 4pm), as UV indices are expected to be in the very high to extreme range.
