Heavy rain is expected to cause significant flooding across the San Juan Mountains and adjacent San Luis Valley, with road washouts possible and mudslides expected. Snow will start to increase across the higher terrain late tonight andi into Monday morning. This snow may cause slick and dangerous travel conditions along mountain roads. Strong and gusty winds can be expected today, with gusts of 30-50 mph expected across the higher terrain, San Luis Valley, and eastern plains. This may make driving difficult for light and high profile vehicles along west to east orientated roads. Wind gusts of 50-60 mph, with isolated 70 mph, may be possible across the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Raton Mesa late today. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday Heavy precipitation will continue early Monday morning across the higher terrain, with the heaviest still along the San Juan Mountains.
