FPBA31 MYNN 011600 011600 MYNNYM BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON, TONIGHT AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 12:00 P.M. EDT, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2026. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 P.M. EDT. WARNING IN EFFECT: A Near Gale Warning (28 – 33 knots) remains in effect for the Northern and Northwest Bahamas. Occasional gusts to near-gale force are possible across the aforementioned areas. Boaters, especially small craft operators are advised to remain in port and swimmers are strongly advised to refrain from entering the water. GENERAL SITUATION: A wet and breezy weather pattern will persist across the northern half of the country today as mid- to upper-level moisture streams into the region from the Gulf, while troughing associated with a decayed frontal boundary lingers across the Northwest Bahamas. Additionally, a strong pressure gradient between an expansive high-pressure system over the northeastern United States and low pressure to the distant south will maintain fresh to strong breezes across the Northern and Northwest Bahamas, where seas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, mainly moderate to locally fresh breezes and slight to moderate seas are expected. Outlook: The frontal boundary is expected to gradually dissipate on Monday; however, high pressure to the north will maintain breezy conditions across the northern half of the country. Meanwhile, an upper-level trough, combined with increasing moisture and atmospheric instability moving in from the Gulf, will enhance shower and thunderstorm activity across the Northern and Northwest Bahamas before gradually spreading across the remainder of the islands through Tuesday. Winds are expected to gradually subside across all areas by late Tuesday, although elevated swells will persist across the Northern Bahamas through the middle of the week. SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Rip Currents: There is a high risk of dangerous, life-threatening rip currents along all northern, eastern and Atlantic coastlines of the Northern, Northwest and Central Bahamas. Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water in these areas. There is a moderate risk of rip currents in the Southeast Bahamas. Beachgoers are urged to exercise extreme caution. Flooding: There is a slight to moderate risk of flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas of the Northern and Northwest Bahamas today through Monday as periods of heavy rain develop. Residents are asked to take the necessary precautions. Coastal and Tidal Flooding: High tides near the end of the king-tide period, combined with moderate to large swells, bring a slight to moderate risk of coastal and tidal flooding along shorelines and marshland areas. Use caution on low-lying coastal roads near high tide. Severe Thunderstorm Risk: There is a slight risk of a few isolated strong to severe thunderstorms over portions of the Northern, Northwest & Central Bahamas this afternoon through Monday. These storms have the potential to produce frequent lightning, gusty winds, heavy downpours and waterspouts. Therefore, the public is urged to remain updated on all severe weather warnings issued by the Bahamas Department of Meteorology.
