FXUS62 KFFC 011913 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 213 PM EST Sun Nov 1 2026 ...Afternoon Area Forecast Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... - Widely scattered rain showers return for some today but accumulation, if any, will remain minimal. - Fairly seasonal temperatures are expected through next week. - Increasing potential for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday, but severe weather and flooding are not expected. && .SHORT TERM... (This afternoon through Monday) Issued at 212 PM EST Sun Nov 1 2026 North and central Georgia are "wedged" with pseudo cold air damming courtesy of high pressure centered on the Mid-Atlantic. The result will be continued breezy easterly winds (sustained 10-15 mph with gusts 20-30 mph) and a partly to mostly cloudy sky through the short term period. Have dropped forecast high temperatures by a couple degrees across much of central Georgia this afternoon given persistent dense cloud cover and intermittent patchy light rain. Expecting rain to taper off after sunset as a weak shortwave trough shifts eastward aloft and moisture feeding across the state wanes. Rain chances for tomorrow (Monday) are essentially nil as weak ridging develops aloft. Of course, cannot rule out a spritz or sprinkle from the low-level cloud deck in the morning. Gradually eroding cloud cover will make for afternoon high temperatures in the lower 70s to right around 80 (outside of the mountains). Easterly winds will likely not be quite as breezy as today. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday morning through next Saturday) Issued at 212 PM EST Sun Nov 1 2026 The long term starts off with another system as a low pressure center moves through the Great Lakes, brining a cold front across much of the southeast. Rainfall values between half and one and a half inch are expected across the CWA beginning Wednesday evening and running through Saturday afternoon. A few thunderstorms are possible, as temps climb into the mid 70s on Wednesday, but widespread severe weather is not expected at this time as much of the stronger dynamics to this system will be off to the north and west. After the front moves through, afternoon high temperatures will continue to stay above normal as building high pressure from the gulf pushes warm tropical air into the region. With highs in the low to mid 70s and overnight lows in the 40s and 50s, temperatures will be running anywhere from 5-10 degrees above normal for early November. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1252 PM EST Sun Nov 1 2026 MVFR to low-VFR CIGs and patchy/intermittent -RA are expected into tonight. Patchy IFR CIGs are noted across N and CNTRL Georgia, but are not expected at any TAF sites at this time. CIGs should gradually scatter and/or lift early to middle tomorrow (Monday) afternoon. Winds will remain breezy out of the ESE to ENE at around 8-13 kts with gusts to around 20-23 kts. Gusts should be weaker tomorrow -- up to around 20 kts at most. //ATL Confidence...18Z Update... Medium confidence on timing of CIG changes. High confidence on all other elements. Martin && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
